A 5-month-old baby has died in a car accident and his father has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, according to the Allegheny County coroner.
An autopsy has not yet been completed, but the baby’s mother, Kimberly Gage, was pronounced dead at the scene, according of the Alleghenys coroner.
She was transported to Allegheny General Hospital, where she later died.
The boy was airlifted to a hospital in Pittsburgh and died Friday, according the Allegro News.
Gage was hospitalized with a serious head injury and had a seizure, according a statement from the coroner.
Gage and her boyfriend, James McLean, were driving from Pittsburgh to St. Louis for a birthday party.
Gager’s mother was driving.
McLean, of Pittsburgh, was arrested Sunday in Allegheny.
He faces two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of reckless homicide.
He was released Monday on $10,000 bond, according, to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Mclean is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Allegro County Common Pleas Court.
The infant’s mother’s name has not been released.
McLeans bond was set at $25,000.
