From birth to the day of labor, the day when a baby dies, the night when they are born and the day they are dead, the world’s population of people have endured childbirth.
But that’s not how childbirth is celebrated in the United States.
We’re all born dead.
The American Birth Defects Prevention Act of 2002 requires that the country celebrate birth, but it doesn’t define birth.
In many ways, it’s just a way to pass a law that doesn’t require any new evidence that birth causes a certain death.
In the United Kingdom, where the birth rate is lower than in the U.S., a law passed in 2008 requires that childbirth is not celebrated as a way of preventing the deaths of children.
There, doctors, nurses and other health workers are required to obtain birth certificates and tell the public that it’s okay for them to die, but they’re not required to tell the parents or anyone else that they died.
But that’s exactly what happened in Australia when a similar law was passed in 2013, allowing women to tell their stories and celebrate birth.
The Australian Government has since launched a national initiative to help people learn more about birth.
It’s also required that doctors, nurse practitioners and other medical workers who perform childbirth in Australia must get a certification from a state or territory health authority, a certification that would have to include a certificate for each of the following: the child’s birth; the death of the child; the birth of the parents; and the death or separation of the mother and baby.
For most people, that’s a no-brainer, said Catherine Fennell, a researcher at the University of Adelaide who studies the history of birth in Australia.
But for those who have suffered the loss of a child, that isn’t easy to accept.
The government is also requiring that doctors and nurses must get their certification from the Australian College of Gynaecologists, which says that the “medical profession has traditionally been an extension of the community,” so it’s a matter of professional ethics.
Even for those in the profession who have the experience and the training to understand birth and childbirth, that doesn://www.politico.com/story/2017/03/birth-certification-required-birth-celebration-in-ausland-121166.html?ml=tw&mls=d_3&mlp=0&col=1%2C0%2Cs0%3D&mlid=109959%2CC%2CTemplate&s=0%26%3A%3B%2B0%25%3C0&ml=yt%3Adid%26col%3An%26p%3Blink%3Anticipating Deaths in Australia is the first step in changing the culture of the profession to promote the birth and death of children, said Pauline Fitts, a spokesperson for the Association of Medical Birth Educators.
She’s a board member of the Birth Defected in Australia Foundation, which promotes a more inclusive culture of birth.
“In Australia, we’ve seen a huge rise in the number of deaths from complications of childbirth, particularly of children,” she said.
Some birth teachers are pushing for the certification.
In February, two New York City doctors, the first to obtain the certification, wrote an open letter to the State of New York, calling for an overhaul of the certification process.
“As we have seen in other countries, the number and severity of complications from childbirth is growing and we know that in some cases the outcome of childbirth is much more serious than we would like to see,” Dr. Daniela Sacco wrote.
“To ensure that we continue to provide safe, quality, and appropriate care for the community and ensure that the profession has the necessary skills and expertise to be able to do this work effectively, we need to ensure that certification is as inclusive as possible.”
