A newborn baby born in the seaside town of Ballyboden in Co Donegal was delivered by sea at a cost of about €1,500 ($1,880) to the community.
The newborn was born to three-month-old girl Anna and two-year-old boy James.
The baby was taken to Ballybeg hospital for an early check-up.
It was later transferred to the Mayo Clinic in Galway for further treatment.
The Irish Independent understands the baby was born on April 6, after three weeks of gestation and was delivered at Ballybhoy, on the coast of Co Galway.
It is not clear if the baby will survive the three-week voyage to Mayo.
The family had planned to have the baby on the mainland and then return to Báin to have him brought to the coast.
Báins first stage was the delivery of a baby on March 31, with the third stage a week later.
