A pregnant woman was injured after she was electrocuted during childbirth at a hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandigarh district.
The woman, who had been admitted to a private hospital on Saturday evening, died after being taken to the nearby hospital.
Her death was confirmed by her husband.
A police official said that the woman was admitted to the hospital after the electrocution and she died after the incident.
The hospital authorities did not give the cause of the death.
A doctor, who was at the hospital to check the woman’s condition, was allegedly present at the time of the incident and was rushed to a hospital for a medical checkup.
The man, however, has not been arrested.
The police said that they are yet to reach the hospital premises.
Earlier in the day, a doctor was taken to hospital after being electrocused in an accident.
He was rushed in the ambulance to the private hospital.
He succumbed to his injuries on arrival at the private medical facility.
The incident came to light on Saturday night when a woman who was admitted at the same hospital died of her injuries after being admitted to it.
She was admitted after she suffered a severe electric shock.
The doctor who treated her, who succumbed to her injuries, has been arrested, police said.
The state government on Sunday launched a probe into the incident, said Additional Commissioner of Police (south) Rajesh Kumar Kumar, adding that he has asked the district administration to submit the medical report of the woman before the district magistrate on Sunday.
